I am locked in an epic battle with a pokeweed. Don't let that picture fool you, it's a worthy foe. I started by cutting off its five foot of height - it had reached eight foot in height earlier in the summer, before my neighbors cut it down in order to paint their garage. Then I started digging. And digging. And digging. I was a foot and a half into the ground, and I still hadn't come close to finding the bottom of it's giant, tuber-like root. So I cut off the top eight inches or so, and sprayed the rest liberally with Roundup. We'll see who has the last laugh!

It'll probably be the Creeping Charlie.
